Nikka ‘Super’ Rare Old Blended Whisky

$95.00 including GST

Description

Super Nikka, one of Japan’s traditional Nikka brands, has remained popular since its launch in 1962. This blend strikes a delicate balance of fruitiness, peatiness, and flavours of ancient sherry barrels.

Masataka Taketsuru, who was born in 1894 into a family of sake manufacturers, is widely regarded as the inventor of Japanese whisky. After completing his chemical training, he began working for the Settsu Shuzo firm, which sent him to Scotland in 1918 to serve an apprenticeship. He developed a liking for whisky there and chose to devote his life to it. On the island of Hokkaido, he erected Yoichi, his first distillery, in 1934. His expanding success enabled him to open Miyagikyo, a second distillery near Sendai, in 1969. The Nikka Whisky group uses single malts from these two distilleries to make its whole line of Japanese whiskies.
