The Yamazaki Single Malt – Sherry Cask 2016 Edition

Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2016 is causing quite a stir in the media! The world’s most famous bottle was released on Monday, February 1st, 2016, and people are excited! This bottle is officially regarded as the best whisky in the world. It made news in early 2015 when it was named the World’s Best Whisky by The Whisky Bible, and it therefore sold out quite quickly.

The absence of an age declaration on this highly anticipated Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2016 makes no difference; the bottling is simply outstanding. The 2016 edition consists primarily of the 2013 blend after two additional years of maturing, as well as some other select malts aged up to 25 years. The mix is wedded in three-year-old casks that previously housed Oloroso sherry, resulting in strong aromas of raisins, clove, and chocolate, cut with a mild bitterness.

Because Japanese whisky is so comparable to Scotch, it’s a good match for Scottish single malts matured in sherry casks.
