Yamazaki Puncheon 2020 Edition 700ml

The colour is pale gold. Green apple, mature pear, and acacia honey with a vanilla undertone. Clean, silky, and mellow on the palate, with delicate butterscotch aromas. Finishes with an oaky woodiness and a delicate sweetness.

Yamazaki Distillery produces an exquisite single malt whisky that was aged in puncheon casks before being bottled at 48% ABV. Previous Yamazaki releases matured in these big casks have been fantastic, and we expect the same from this bottling. A fantastic treat for fans of Japanese whisky.

The Yamazaki Puncheon single malt whiskey, considered the heart of Yamazaki single malt, is made out of spirit that has been matured exclusively in puncheons built by Suntory coopers from hand-selected American oak. Puncheons are around 480 litres in size, almost as large as a sherry butt, but offer more surface contact for wood interaction, giving the spirit richness and vibrancy.
