Description

The 2017 Saint-Pierre has a medium to deep garnet-purple colour and tastes like warm cassis, redcurrant jelly, baked blackberries, and Black Forest cake with touches of soil, herbs, and meat. It is firmly made, medium-bodied, and has a superb core of muscly fruit with a hard and gritty frame. It is long and layered.

In the 1855 classification system, Chateau Saint-Pierre, which dates back to the 17th century, was given the ranking of 4th Grand Cru Classé. The estate split up, and it wasn’t until 1982 that Henri Martin, a Chateau Gloria co-owner, with his enthusiasm, restored the house to its previous splendor.

The 17 acre vineyard, which is situated in the Beychevelle municipality, has vines that are, on average, 50 years old. Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines are added to the majority of Cabernet Sauvignon vines, which are grown on Gunzien gravel in sandy-clay subsoil. The estate is among the most well-known in the northern Medoc and Saint-Julien appellation because to its excellent terroir. The profile of the wine is quite alluring, and the tannins are mature and round.

Françoise Triaud, Henri Martin’s daughter, now owns Chateau Saint-Pierre. Between 1996 and 2017, her husband Jean-Louis Triaud served as President of the Girondins de Bordeaux and is in charge of the General Management.
