Description

Dark, almost black in tone, with hints of purple. The nose is complex and aromatic, fusing notes of cedar and light tobacco with fruity and spicy components. The palate is dense and delicate, exuding fruity aromas that meld well with gentle tannins. The palate, which is structured and harmonious, extends the range of its fragrant notes to a protracted finish.

Château Brane-Mouton was purchased by Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild at a public auction in 1853. He changed the name of the estate Château Mouton Rothschild, which is situated in Pauillac, the center of the Médoc. Baron Philippe de Rothschild took over management of the estate in 1924. As a genuine pioneer, he chose to begin wine bottling on the property and created the wine’s label. Château Mouton Rothschild was classified as a Premier Cru Classé in 1973. The Pauillac appellation’s legendary Château Mouton Rothschild has elevated premium Bordeaux wines to a global standard.

Situated to the north-west of Bordeaux, in the Médoc, Château Mouton Rothschild’s vineyard spreads across 90 hectares. The vines are planted on gravelly soils that retain the heat and release it during the night, thus favouring the ripening of the grapes. These poor, draining soils rest on a clay-gravel subsoil, giving this fine Pauillac wine a unique powerful, elegant and tannic structure.
