Chateau Gazin Pomerol 2010 750ml

$332.00 including GST

Description

The 2010 Gazin, which has a deep maroon colour, bursts onto the palate with powerful flavours of boysenberries, baked plums, and Christmas cake, as well as undertones of unsmoked cigars and bouquet garni. A full-bodied wine with a tongue bursting with roasted black fruit and lengthy, mineral-tinged tannins that frame it.

According to legend, the ruins of the Hôpital de Pomeyrols, which was first founded by the Knights of Malta in the 12th century, were used as the foundation for Château Gazin. Since the beginning of the previous century, it has been owned by the Bailliencourts dit Courcol, one of the oldest families in France.

The Pomerol plateau’s eastern region contains Gazin, where the soils are largely composed of clay and limestone. The 26-hectare vineyard of Gazin, which is substantial by Pomerol standards, borders the L’Evangile and Pétrus vineyards. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon are used to make the wine. The wine is aged for 15 to 18 months in oak barriques made of oak that is 50% new after the conventional vinification of the grapes.
