Tenuta Ornellaia Masseto 2001

A flamboyant, rich and powerful Masseto. A monumental wine that combines extravagant levels of ripeness, opulent fruit with a perfectly balanced tannic structure. It is starting to drink well but given its power and richness it will certainly benefit from a few more years. Very ripe notes of plum, black berries, red currant, and cigar box on the nose. Well integrated tannins and opulent flavors of crushed dark berries, pepper, and fruit on the palate. There is also some heat noticeable on the the nose and palate.
