The GlenDronach Port Wood was inspired by the historical transport of casked port into Scotland in the nineteenth century. During the 1800s, port was ‘de rigueur’, and many of the finest port pipes would travel from Portugal, down the Douro River, to the wine cellars of Scotland’s upper class. Although many years have passed, Portugal’s gorgeous Douro Valley remains famous for its superb port.

The Master Blender picked some of its best port pipes to hold The GlenDronach for a three-year maturing period. Carefully blended the whisky from these port pipes to create a fruit-filled, ten-year-old expression with layers of luscious berries that roll into its distinctively lengthy, lingering finish.
