Chateau Lascombes Margaux 2005 750ml

One of the most ostentatious bouquets from the Margaux appellation, including a profusion of candied orange peel and red berry fruit. Aromas of marmalade and cedar explode from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle tannins, a little more developed than its competitors, and finishes with a mild dryness.

The second-growth Chateau Lascombes in the 1855 classification carries the name of its first proprietor, Chevalier de Lascombes, who was born in 1652. A councilor in the Bordeaux parliament at the turn of the 18th century, Jean-Francois de lascombes invested his money in creating a famous wine at Lascombes. Chaix D’Est Ange, a lawyer, began construction on the current chateau in 1867.

In 1952, Alexis Lichine acquired ownership of the place. He gives this sizable vineyard new life by completely restructuring Chateau Lascombes and renovating the vineyard and cellars. He sold everything to Bass-Charrington, an English brewer, in 1971. In 2001, The Colony Capital took over as owner. This property has entered a new phase when the MACSF acquired it in 2011.
