Ichiro's Malt Double Distilleries Whisky 700ml

Founded in 2007 by Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the Hanyu distillery founder, Chichibu has been in operation since February 2008. Equipped with two bespoke stills crafted by Forsyth's in Scotland, it stands as the first Japanese single malt distillery since Hakushu, distinguished by its intimate scale and meticulous approach. The distillery began releasing young cuvées in 2008 before presenting its inaugural "proper" whisky—a three-year-old barrel proof—at Whisky Live Paris 2011.

Today, Chichibu bottles its own expressions up to 12 years old under the Chichibu and Ichiro's Malt ranges, whilst also stewarding the final stocks of Karuizawa, Kawasaki and Hanyu. Born from a marriage of casks sourced from the Hanyu distillery and Chichibu, Ichiro's Malt Double Distilleries is a pure malt that harmonises sweetness with structure. The sweetness derives partly from maturation in Japanese oak casks, whilst the structural backbone emerges from ex-sherry and hogshead casks in which Hanyu's malt has matured.
