Broad, with touches of pineapple, mango, and ripe fruit, supported by sweet vanilla notes. Dry but well-balanced, with a delicate hint of toasted almonds that complements the fruity aromas on the palate. Good acidity and a silky fruit finish. Best paired with fish and salad.
The must from grapes harvested in the first week of August for the Principi di Butera Chardonnay began fermenting in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 20°C (68°F). It was then partially racked into medium toast oak 350-liter (92 gallon) tonneaux and allowed to mature for roughly 20 days. Long maturation on its own lees was followed by a few months of bottle ageing.
