Benriness Distillery, founded in 1826, was destroyed by a flood in 1829. It was rebuilt the following year, just a few miles away, but was destroyed by fire in 1896. After being completely renovated in 1956, it increased its production capacity in 1966, expanding from two to six stills. Until 2007, it was one of the few distilleries in Scotland that used triple distillation. Flirting with peat on the finish, this rendition casts Benrinnes in a slightly unique light. Overflowing with naturalness and vibrancy, it prefers deeds over long talks to achieve its goal of best imitating the “old style” essence of a strongly malty pallet of flavours and smells presented straight and without frills.
