Formerly known affectionately as "Shirofuda" or "Shiro," Suntory Whisky White (renamed in 1964) stands as Japan's pioneering domestically produced whisky. This distinguished spirit is characterised by its sharp, light aroma and crisp aftertaste. Shinjiro Torii commenced whisky production in Japan in 1923, with this expression released in 1929. Originally simply branded as "Suntory Whiskey," the white label earned the nickname "white card" and became beloved amongst whisky connoisseurs in the post-war era, affectionately known as "shiro." In 1964, the brand was formally renamed to its current "White" designation, cementing its place in Japanese whisky heritage.
