Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu Single Malt – On The Way Bottled 2015

Aromas of caramel topped flower blossoms are first, followed by crisp melon and oak. The palate is dominated by canned peaches and pears, with wood spices and pepper notes joining in. For a brief while, a trace of mint is perceived before the spices sweeten and intensify, leading to a lengthy, warm aftertaste.

Ichiro Akuto’s work in progress is Chichibu On The Way. He established his distillery in 2008 at the foot of a mountain in the Saitama region, and he is about to release his first 5 year old whisky.
The current Chichibu On The Way is a vatting of three casks: one Mizunara oak hogshead filled in 2008, making it the distillery’s second oldest cask.
