Yamazaki Distiller Reserve 700ml

It starts off a little sour and has a metallic and minerally character. The flavour then turns sweeter with a hint of red fruit and something tropical, possibly nectarine and peach. Additionally, there are several herbs and spices that contain cinnamon and coriander. However, the nose is fairly closed. A watery mouthfeel is present. Sweet enough, almost like candy. A little marzipan and caramel. Then, vanilla and oak spices wash those away. nutmeg and cinnamon. Finish that is about medium-length. With a trace of chocolate and perhaps some smoke, it is dry, slightly bitter, and woody.

A fantastic Japanese malt and one of the best currently produced bearing the Takesuru name.
