Altocedro The Phoenician Malbec 2020 750ml

A powerful scent of berry fruit, both black and red, with a hint of mocha. Compared to many Malbecs, this one has a crisper, brighter palate. In addition to anise, the berry flavours that are present in the mouth are more blackberry and blueberry than red. A great burger wine, it’s also great to drink by yourself on a chilly night.

Karim Mussi has been producing exceptional wines in Argentina’s La Consulta region of the Uco Valley since 1999. In his final wines, Mussi aims to highlight the unique characteristics of the vineyard and its original old-vine rootstocks because he believes in terroir. Since the winery’s founding, he has followed sustainable farming practices, maintains a minimalist look in the cellar, and ferments the wine using native yeasts in concrete vats that are 100 years old. Due in part to Altocedro’s efforts, the La Consulta region was granted one of the rare “Geographic Indication” appellations in Argentina in 2019.
