It was thought that the Amon-Ra temple was the first to establish a monoculture vineyard for the purpose of producing wine for its patrons. The label’s eye is the all-seeing eye of Horus, also known as wedjat (“whole one”), a potent protection emblem in ancient Egypt. The figure’s six pieces are symbolic of the six senses that the Egyptians considered to exist: touch, taste, hearing, sight, smell, and mind.
