Description

Dark ruby with a deep crimson center. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, fresh plum, cassis, violets, black pepper, sage, and bay leaf with wood, charcuterie, baking spices, and anise. Rich, velvety, and complex on the tongue, with layers of black forest fruits, plum, and spicy pepper balanced by fresh acidity and carried by fine-grained tannins for a long and exquisite finish.

Since 1868, the Henschke family has been creating wine at their vineyard in the Eden Valley. Stephen Henschke, a fifth-generation winemaker, took over the winery in 1979. Together with his viticulturist wife Prue, he has transformed their two single vineyards, Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone, into two of Australia’s most desirable wines. Through a combination of great viticulture from Prue, who is at the forefront of reintroducing native plants into their vineyards to improve biodiversity, and winemaking from Stephen, they have built on their inheritance and transformed this traditional producer into one that is celebrated all over the world.
