Yarra Yering Dry Red Wine No. 2 2019 750ml

A rich, layered wine that is both sweet and savoury. The aroma combines violets, plums, savoury spices, and a hint of bramble and five spice. The summer pudding fruits are moderate in weight and come in a variety of colours, which adds flavuor intrigue. The cigar box and cardamom spice add mystique. Firm but delicate tannins ably complement the fruit, while texture drives the palate. This one is difficult to place into a box because there is so much to love

Fruit was hand-picked, transferred across a sorting table and destemmed directly to the Yarra Yering 600kg open-fermenters. As much whole berry as possible is retained to encourage perfume. A portion of fermenters had frozen Viognier skins added to the bottom. The wine was aged for 15 months in French oak barriques, 30% new before blending and bottling.
