Extremely aromatic with notes of grape, blackberry, and graphite. Dark chocolate and berries inconspicuously flavored wine with a medium body and very delicate tannins. Beautifully elegant texture.
One of the more established homes in the Haut Médoc is Château La Tour Carnet. One of the rare Fourth Growth estates with a functioning moat and drawbridge is this one. Going to the Château La Tour Carnet is like going back in time, specifically to the Middle Ages. Without a doubt, Château La Tour Carnet is a beautiful place, and its wines aren’t bad too. Although the quality has increased over the years, costs have remained low because so much is produced. Château La Tour Carnet, the largest property in Médoc, offers excellent representations of the Haut Médoc region at a reasonable price.
The age of Château La Tour Carnet is roughly 800 years. The earliest records of this property are from the eleventh century. During the 12th century, the area was occupied by English people who also utilized it as a military stronghold. Originally known as Château de St. Laurent, the area was afterwards conquered by France. Château La Tour Carnet was on the verge of ruin following the 100 Years War when Charles de Leutken bought it and restored the property. Fourth Growth was the designation given to Château La Tour Carnet in the 1855 Classification.
It remained in the Leutken family for several generations before being purchased by Bernard Magrez, a legend in the wine business, in 1999. Among the several properties that Bernard Magrez owns in Bordeaux is the renowned Château Pape Clement in the Pessac-Leognan region.
