Vineyards bear the imprint of man’s will. Brane-Cantenac’s folklore, which began 250 years ago, tells of a fruitful interaction between man and earth that grows stronger with time. This outstanding wine estate, named ‘Hostein’ in the 18th century, was purchased by the Gorce family and produced one of the Medoc’s most recognized wines long before the 1855 classification.
The Chateau’s second wine, Baron de Brane, is named after the illustrious Baron Jacques-Maxime de Brane, the ‘Napoléon des Vignes’ who owned the land in the nineteenth century. The Lurton family has been committed wardens for the past four generations, ensuring that the property grows and produces wines of the highest quality.
