This lovely wine offers a rhyming wine with grace, charm, delicacy synonymous with unusual femininity for a Pauillac. Delicious dark cherry fruit with hints of dark chocolate dust and a vibrant aroma. Pleasant richness and succulence on the palate, balanced by a crispness.
An exceptional vineyard, The Tour l’Aspic tower, which represents Château Haut-Batailley, is the entryway into the Pauillac vineyard. Situated on 22 hectares of deep Garonne gravel soils, the vineyard is bordered by the Saint-Julien AOC to the southwest of the appellation. The property was purchased in March 2017 by the Cazes family, who also owns Lynch Bages and Ormes de Pez. The Cazes family has big plans for the estate. Scattered throughout the Aspic and Bécades plateaux, between Haut-Batailley and Pauillac, close to the Gironde estuary, is a vineyard spanning over 22 hectares. Its planted grape types, which are composed of 35% Merlot and 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, are remarkably typical of the Pauillac appellation. 10,000 grapes are planted per hectare, with an average vine age of 45 years. The vineyard has received flawless care and oversight. When necessary, replacement vines have been planted on a regular basis. There are additional 19 hectares of unplanted AOC Pauillac land at Château Haut-Batailley that have been in a state of rest for a number of years. The Aspic, Bécades, and so-called “Batailley” plateaus are where the land to be planted is located.
