Aromas of red and black fruit, spices, and a touch of wood dominate the bouquet. On the palate, this wine is rich and structured, but it takes some time to show its raciness and remarkable distinctiveness. Excellent potential for aging.
Vineyards were originally discovered at Aloxe-Corton in the second century B.C. Later, Charlemagne’s favourite wine would be Le Corton. Corton is the only red Grand Cru on the Côte de Beaune and the only Grand Cru on the Côte d’Or to be divided into “sousclimats”. “Le Corton” is the old vineyard that gave the Corton appellation its name.
Maison Bouchard Père & Fils, founded in 1731, is one of Burgundy’s oldest wine trading houses. The House has spent ages amassing valuable parcels in order to construct a prestigious domaine: 130 hectares of Crus. Beaune Grèves Vigne de L’Enfant Jésus, Chevalier-Montrachet, Montrachet, Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, Bonnes-Mares, and Clos Vougeot are just a few of the famous vineyards. Joseph Henriot obtained this extraordinary collection in 1995, and it is now part of Maisons & Domaines Henriot. Maison Bouchard Père & Fils has invested in the vine to bottle process, which is meticulously handled to ensure the most accurate expression of each terroir.
