It has an exuberant, rich bouquet of floral and highly harmonious aromas of red currant, cranberry, and raspberry. The oak blends in perfectly. The palate is medium-bodied, with supple, meaty tannins that add more dimension and depth than some of Parent’s other Premier Crus, as well as a delicate grip on the finish. Excellent.
Etienne Parent started the Domaine Parent family legacy in the 16th century. In 1787, he met the future President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson. Etienne became a business pioneer when he began exporting Burgundy wines to America. Several generations followed, including Claude Parent, who purchased this medieval domain in Pommard in 1803. The domain is now owned by the 12th generation, which includes two sisters, Anne Parent and Catherine Fages-Parent. They maintain the 10 hectares of vines together. Since 2009, the domain has been considered organic. They harvest by hand and produce wines that are expressive, real, exquisite, and sensual. Domaine Parent’s terroir is superb in the Pommard and Pommard 1er Cru appellations.
Red wines account for 90% of total output and are always more difficult to work with. The vinification takes place in bicentennial vaults and results in wines that are used for gourmet meals with other famous Burgundy wines.
