Cristal is a wine of evolution, a wine that continues to reveal itself, slowly and gradually as it ages, unveiling a very different side to itself and the true extent of its unique personality.

Cristal is a perfect expression of its terroir, sourced from grape plots that have been gradually built up since 1845 and responsibly worked as part of a customized viticultural method. The procedures include mass selection, careful pruning, the use of biodynamic composts, and allowing the land to lie fallow for extended periods of time. Louis Roederer also employs permaculture ideas, which involve adjusting the ecosystem’s equilibrium and forming a tight link between man and nature.

Perfectly in keeping with the decade’s continental trend, the 2015 vintage produced wines that were ripe, well-structured, and capped with a strong freshness directed by its white soils. Roederer’s mild and conscientious winegrowing procedures bring out the purity of the chalk, resulting in a perfect balance of maturity and freshness.

The colour is a bright, gorgeous golden yellow. The effervescence is bright and refined. The nose has an especially rich fragrant expression. Yellow fruit (white peach, mirabelle plum), hazelnut, and roasted almonds combine in a lovely blend. With aeration, the aroma displays an exquisite balance of Chardonnay’s distinctive notes of almond, harvest, and sweet pollen and Pinot Noir’s delightful fruitiness (red and luscious fruits). The palate is lively and concentrated, with a smooth texture that reveals aromas of preserved citrus fruit and iodized spices. The palate retains its freshness and accuracy until the finish, which includes modest woody and salty flavours, resulting in a superb balance of elegance and concentration.
