This robust red wine already has more strong and fruity aromas than previous years. Fresh notes of blood orange, bitter orange, tangerine, and dark red fruits mix with fresh soil, anise seed, and herbs. The palate is fresh and juicy, with a mouth-filling mouthfeel and robust yet balanced tannins and acidity. Attractive richness of red-tone fruits, berry, pomegranate, and wild strawberry blend with bright acidity in a mid-weight, elegant style. Will be a nice pair of Italian and French cuisine.
Barbaresco is a small settlement in the Langhe that is home to the GAJA winery. The GAJA Winery’s history can be traced back to a single founding purpose: to create unique wines with a feeling of location that represent the tradition and culture of people who made them. This idea has inspired five generations of exceptional winemaking. It all began almost 150 years ago, when Giovanni Gaja founded a tiny restaurant in Barbaresco and made wine to accompany the food he served. In 1859, he built the Gaja Winery, which produced some of the first Piedmont wines to be bottled and sold outside the region. Since then, each generation has contributed to the winery’s development, most notably Clotilde Rey, Angelo Gaja’s grandmother. Her commitment to uncompromising excellence influenced and informed Angelo Gaja. Through Angelo, these ideals have become the cornerstone of the GAJA philosophy and are embedded in every element of wine production.
