Description

Amarone della Valpolicella 2016, a sleeping giant with deeply seductive notes of shaved cedar, dusty black currants, faded violets, and lifted mint notes. This has a sleek, cool-toned feel, with loads of dark red fruits with hints of minerality and balsamic tones balanced by a core of zesty acidity. It’s elevated but intense and flavorful to the core.

The 2016 has a lengthy, tannic finish that grips the palate tightly and leaves behind a persistently bitter primary focus. Although it’s still a baby and needs a lot of cellaring, this has enormous potential. According to Marco Dal Forno, he thought about selling the 2018 before the 2016 in order to give it more time to develop fully—something he had already done with the 2017.

Located in the Valpolicella region, east of Verona, in the Valley of Illasi, is Dal Forno, which was established in 1983. Romano Dal Forno was born adjacent to his family’s vineyards and spent his childhood developing a lifelong love of the great outdoors and an unwavering passion for his profession, which included refining both his family’s vineyards and his own winemaking methods.

A profound regard for ancient methods coexists with the most exacting and cutting-edge technology procedures in all aspects of viticulture and winemaking. The winery’s ability to strike a balance between tradition and technology produces wines that are incredibly precise and perfect in character, yet intense and bursting with flavors and aromas. These strict requirements have made Dal Forno one of the most famous and respected producers of Valpolicella wine.
