Description

This wine has a distinctive deep and bright garnet red hue, and when poured into the glass, purple reflections are seen. It exudes a variety of ethereal scents, but the scent of little, withered red fruits—particularly cherries, blackberries, and sour cherries—predominates. There are also subtle undertones of spice and toasted wood. It has a nice body, is dense, strong, and vinous, and has a pleasing tannic and bitter taste. The wide, energizing drink caresses the palate and leaves it silky. Red fruit notes of wood and spirit are the first flavors in the mouth, followed by spicy and balsamic flavors. The reappearance of the fragrant impressions and the lengthy aftertaste make for a delightful ending. For red meat meals like braised, grilled, roasted, and marinated, this label is ideal.

Since its establishment in 1874, Speri has been a family-run winery in the Valpolicella area of Veneto, Italy. The Speri family owns 60 hectares of vines, including the famed vineyard locations of Monte Sant’Urbano, La Roverina, and Vigneto Monte Sant’Urbano, in the most exclusive Valpolicella Classica sections (historical area) at elevations ranging from 120 to 350 m above sea level. The winery uses indigenous grape types that are typical of the Valpolicella region, including Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Molinara. It is committed to using traditional winemaking techniques. After years of sustainable cultivation, the Winery acquired full production-wide organic certification in 2015.
