Description

This lovely wine, which has a vivid ruby-red colour, enchants with its sophisticated and powerful nose that features fruity and flowery notes, with juicy cherries standing out. On the palate, it has a smooth and elegant texture, along with fruit flavours that are delightful, supple, and lingeringly fresh, all in a light, sophisticated manner. Incredibly versatile, Tommasi Valpolicella Classico Superiore Rafaèl shines with pasta dishes featuring rich sauces, roasts, and white meats, as well as moderately aged cheeses. It pairs surprisingly well with spicy Oriental dishes and full-flavoured fish soups.

When Giacomo Battista Tommasi married Augusta in 1902, the family began a journey that would change Verona’s winemaking environment. Giacomo established the groundwork for their heritage in Valpolicella by moving away from ordinary agriculture and toward imagining wine as a refined product for festivals.Despite two world wars, Giacomo’s sons, Sergio, Franco, Ezio, and Dario, persevered, fostering progress in Pedemonte. During the postwar boom, they led a modern expansion, acquiring vineyards in Valpolicella Classica and Veronese appellations such as Lugana, Bardolino, Custoza, and Soave.

Their ambition became a reality in the 1970s, when they opened a modern vineyard and headquarters, marking a watershed moment in their history. With a firm commitment to vineyard ownership and quality control, the Tommasi label aimed to regulate every aspect from vine to table. They accelerated the winery’s expansion after taking over leadership in 1997 as the fourth generation. Strategic acquisitions in 2000, including the huge Tenuta Prunea and prestigious vineyards like as Conca d’Oro and La Groletta, bolstered their influence in Valpolicella. Beyond Veneto, they extended around Lake Garda and entered other territories, reinforcing their dedication to quality.

Today, guided by their rich heritage and a relentless pursuit of quality, Tommasi Wine Producers remains a beacon of Italian winemaking, blending tradition with innovation to craft wines that captivate palates worldwide.
