Miyagikyo Single Malt 700ml

Elegant and fruity are two words that describe Miyagikyo malts. Whiskies distilled in pot stills heated by indirect steam from light peated and unpeated malted barley have a distinct fruitiness and delicate mouthfeel.

Miyagikyo Single Malt is the Miyagikyo Distillery’s line of single malt expressions. Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka, picked a valley in the Miyagi prefecture as the location for his second distillery, which opened in 1969. He intended to create a stark contrast between the two distilleries, Miyagikyo and Yoichi, which have very different natural surroundings and manufacturing processes.

When all age-statements were eliminated in 2016, this no-age-statement variant was launched as a permanent product to showcase the beautiful style of Miyagikyo malts. This bottle features estery flavors produced by carefully selected yeast strains, as well as a strong Sherry barrel influence.
