The Shinobu Pure Malt Mizunara Oak 10 Years Old 700ml

Fresh wood barrel dominates the spirit, with a touch of vanilla and flowers that call to mind the smell of nectar; maltose, a little bit of fruit citrus tones, Mizunara oak, coffee beans; medium, woody, returning to the sweet aftertaste of maltose.

In Japan, Niigata is noted for its “Three White” treasures, namely snow, rice, and sake, as well as a naturally endowed area for pure water sources. Shinobu translates to “forbearance” in Japanese, which is how the distiller’s spirit should be when producing high-quality whisky.

Mr. Usami, the distiller, handcrafts Shinobu Whisky. He painstakingly picks whisky from throughout the world and ages it in ex-Sherry and ex-Bourbon casks first. The spirit is then finished in premium Japanese Mizunara oak and matured longer in Japan. The outcome is a one-of-a-kind blend of flavors and a dynamic burst on the palate that is smooth and simple to sip. There is no coloring in this product.

Mizunara is a pricey oak that is difficult to shape into barrels but provides wonderful flavor to Shinobu’s spirit. This single malt has been aged for at least ten years, allowing the spirit to develop some very appealing flavours.
