Description

On the nose, luscious tropical fruits with soft flesh, such as persimmon, papaya, and rock melon, are contrasted with ginger, cloves, and orange marmalade. Small, early-picked portions that were fermented in barrels and matured on lees resulted in the development of subtle floral and vanilla flavours. The lack of focus, which may be a result of the four separate passes made during picking time, overshadows the palate’s startling consistency and completeness. A thick, delicious, and textured midpalate follows the soft, cushion-like entrance, and a lengthy, fresh tail comes to a close. Similar to the texture, the fruit also moves across the tongue in a spectrum, starting with peach and nashi pear, then a Crème Brûlée, ginger, and lemon, before finishing with a touch of lemon marmalade.

The variety cooperates in the vineyard because there is little demand for it and it behaves impeccably. The deep, multifaceted personality of this wine doesn’t fully emerge until harvest time; it is wonderfully aromatic when appropriate, bitter when unhappy, enthralls even the most critical taster with time, and is sweet because we believe it is necessary to bring the wine together.

Despite being enticing when young, it is advised to hold off on opening this wine for at least another two years and, for optimum interest, another five to ten.
