This is the first release in Jura’s Two-One-Two series, a collection of annual limited edition bottlings. This version was distilled on Jura in 2006 and aged in American white oak bourbon casks. Before bottling, it was finished in Chinkapin oak barrels, which are native to eastern and central North America. It was finally bottled at 13 years old, with only 6,000 bottles produced. Oh, and what about the name? Only 212 people live on the island of Jura!
Lemon and poppy seed sponge cake topped with lemon zest, cinnamon French toast, and butter caramel. The nose smells of lemon dripping cake, cinnamon spice, and creamy toffee. A treacle note with cooked apples, lemon curd, and boiling fruit sweets, complemented by praline. Baklava has rich flavours with a sweet nuttiness that lingers.
