Description

One of Napa Valley’s all-time great vintages from one of Napa Valley’s all-time great winemakers. It’s difficult to go wrong here!

On the nose, there are dark purple fruits that are vivid and aromatic. Mint, flowery, and vine bark notes Spearmint. Full body, strong tannins, and superb savoriness. Finish with a flavourful note. A fantastic mouthfeel. Extremely lengthy. Mostly merlot, with some cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc thrown in for good measure. Hold or drink.

Jean Phillips, a former real estate agent, purchased the 57-acre Oakville vineyard in 1986, which was planted with a variety of grape varieties except for 80 Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Jean hired Richard Peterson as a consultant, and his daughter, Heidi Peterson Barrett, was eventually employed as the first winemaker. The vineyard was completely replanted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Robert Parker awarded the 1992 vintage a score of 99 points, making it one of the most acclaimed and expensive wines in Napa Valley.
