Arguably the most well-known wine in Australia, Grange is recognized as a South Australian Heritage Icon. Grange showcases an uninterrupted series of vintages dating back to the experimental 1951 and amply illustrates the perfect blend of Shiraz and South Australia’s soils and climate. Fully mature, deeply flavored, and beautifully textured Shiraz grapes are used in Penfolds Grange. As a result, an original Australian style emerged that is today regarded as among the greatest wines in the world in terms of consistency. The Grange style embodies Penfolds’ multi-vineyard, multi-district blending strategy in its most strong and original form.

Deep crimson with a purple rim, this wine is a 98/2% blend of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon that oozes power and authority; the bouquet is already complex, with American oak playing a major role as it always does when Grange is young; the palate has layers upon layers of mostly black fruits; the tannins, like the oak, need to soften, and they should do so well before the fruit starts to fade. Finished its fermentation in a 100% new American oak barrel for 21 months, following the Grange tradition. an excellent grange.
